Terms of Service

NeoBookworm.uk is run by me, Nick Barrett, from Swindon, Wiltshire. I build websites for tradespeople and small businesses across the UK — one person, doing the work properly.

These terms apply when you ask me to build you a website and/or when you take out a monthly care plan. By proceeding with an order you are agreeing to them.

The price agreed with you before work begins covers the design, build, and launch of your new website. Our standard rate is £299. That means:

• A site built around your business and how you work
• Your services, contact details, and the areas you cover
• A design that looks right on phones, tablets, and desktop
• Setup on hosting so it is ready for people to find
• Your web address (e.g. nicksplumbing.co.uk) — most cost £10–15/year and that's included. If your preferred name is taken I'll suggest alternatives at no extra cost
• Changes included until you're happy — you review the site before it goes live and I make any adjustments you need

Once payment is made the site goes live and it's yours outright — no hidden costs, no ongoing obligations unless you choose to add the care plan.

The price shown here is our standard starting rate. The price quoted to you before work begins is the one that applies to your project — you will always know the exact figure before anything is commissioned.

The care plan is entirely your choice — your site stays live either way. It is there if you would rather I handle the technical side so you can focus on the work you are actually paid for.

It covers:

• Keeping your site live, fast, and on the right hosting
• Security and software updates as they come out
• Small text and content changes (up to around 30 minutes of work a month)
• Your annual web address renewal — I sort it so it stays registered in your name (typically £8–15/year to the registrar, covered while you're on the plan)

Bigger changes — new pages, new sections, new features — are quoted separately at £25 an hour. I will always tell you the cost before starting.

You can cancel at any time with no fuss. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing month, and your site files are yours regardless.

The monthly price shown is the rate at the time you sign up. I will keep this as stable as I can — any increases would be driven by rises in the costs involved in running your site, or by changes to what the plan includes. If I do need to change the price, I will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before it takes effect, and you are free to cancel with no penalty if you would prefer not to continue at the new rate.

Once the build fee is paid, the site is yours. The pages, the copy I have written, the design — all of it belongs to you.

Any photos or logos you supply stay yours throughout. I will not use them for anything else without asking.

If you ever want to move the site to a different provider or hand it to another developer, I will give you all the files at no extra charge.

To build your site I will need some information from you — your business details, a description of what you do, and any photos or a logo you want to use. I'll let you know what I need at each stage. The more you give me, the better the result.

By sending me images and other content, you are confirming that you own them or have the right to use them on your website.

I will keep things moving at my end. If I am waiting on information or sign-off from you for more than 14 days and cannot reach you, I will put the project on hold. There is no penalty — just get back in touch when you are ready and I will pick it back up.

Build payment is taken online via a secure payment link — powered by Stripe — after you have seen and approved the finished site.

Care plan payments are taken monthly by card on the same date each month. You will get a receipt by email each time.

I do not store your card details. All payments go through Stripe, which handles the security side.

I build sites carefully and test them properly before they go live. That said, no hosting setup can guarantee 100% uptime — if your site goes down for a reason within my control, I will get it fixed as quickly as I can.

I am not liable for loss of business, lost revenue, or indirect costs arising from your site being unavailable or not performing as expected.

My total liability to you in any situation is limited to the amount you have paid me in the preceding 12 months.

I may update these terms occasionally. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. If you are on a care plan, I will email you at least 30 days before any significant changes — including price changes — take effect.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
