Your Site Is Live — What to Do Next

Your site is live. Here’s what to do in the first few days to make sure it actually starts working for you. Work through the list at your own pace — none of it is complicated.

1. Share the link everywhere you already are

Add your website URL to: your email signature, your Facebook page About section (and pin a post announcing the launch), your Instagram bio, any trade directories you’re listed on (Checkatrade, Rated People, MyBuilder), and your WhatsApp Business profile if you use it. When you next reprint business cards or update van signage, add it there too. It doesn't take long and significantly increases the number of places people can find you.

2. Claim your Google Business profile

Go to business.google.com and search for your business name. If a listing already exists, claim it. If it doesn’t, create one. Once you have access: add your website URL, set your service area, add at least three to five photos of your work, write a short description of what you do, and make sure your business name and trade category are accurate. Google will send a verification postcard, usually within a week.

3. Ask your best customers for a Google review

Don’t wait for reviews to appear on their own — they usually don’t, even from very happy customers. Ask directly at the end of a job you’re pleased with, with a direct link: “It would really help me out if you had two minutes to leave a Google review — here’s the link.” Find your review link in your Google Business profile under “Get more reviews”. Aim for five genuine reviews in the first month.

4. Requesting a content change

If you’re on the care plan: small content changes are included. Just email nick@neobookworm.uk with what you’d like changed, the new text or photo, and which page it’s on. Changes are typically turned around within one working day. Small changes include: updating text, swapping or adding a photo, adding a new service, updating your coverage area, or adding an accreditation badge. Larger changes are quoted separately.

5. If something looks wrong

If you spot something that doesn’t look right, email nick@neobookworm.uk with a screenshot. Care plan clients get same-working-day fixes for anything broken. Check your site on your phone as well as a desktop — occasionally things display slightly differently on mobile and it’s worth checking.
